Last year, The Law Offices of Larry H. Parker, awarded FOUR outstanding students a total of $25,000 in scholarships to help further their education. To help kick off the 2016 Community Scholarship application period, we recently caught up with one of our $2,500 scholarship recipients, Olivia Belda.
Here is what Olivia had to say about how the Community Scholarship program helped further her studies as a freshman at Pepperdine University:
“The Community Scholarship from The Law Offices of Larry H. Parker has helped me in a variety of ways. To start, I now have the chance to better my future. Without this scholarship, I probably would not have been able to attend Pepperdine University.
I am currently involved in a number of on-campus activities such as Good Morning Malibu, an online broadcast station that offers live as well as pre-recorded programming from the Media Production students at Pepperdine University. I am also involved in campus Greek Life as a member of a Sorority, Student Government, the school’s Business Fraternity, and work as a Tour Guide for the office of admission.
In addition, I was asked take part in the YouTube docuseries ,’Rising Tide’, which follows five students as they navigate their first year of college at Pepperdine University. This series is filmed by the Office of Admission at Pepperdine University.
I think the struggle to pay for college really pushed me to take advantage of every opportunity that comes my way. Although this summer will most likely prompt me with the challenge of looking for another scholarship, I am beyond thankful for the ‘jump start’ that this particular scholarship provided me with.”
