Fresno, CA (May 8, 2024) – Shaylee Henry (31) of Fresno killed in a hit-and-run accident near Fashion Fair Mall after a car hit her behind the basketball backstop at Cary Park. According to The Fresno Bee, the crash happened just before 8:30 p.m. on Friday.

Shaylee Henry, 31, of Fresno, identified as the victim in a hit-and-run accident near Fashion Fair Mall on Friday. 

Following the incident, the Fresno County Coroner’s Office confirmed her death after a car struck her behind Cary Park’s baseball backstop, just south of the mall. 

Additionally, a 30-year-old man was also hit and is now in stable condition in the hospital. 

Reportedly, the accident occurred after a driver, attempting to evade a traffic stop, led officers on a brief chase. 

Although the pursuit was called off, the driver sped through the Fashion Fair parking lot. Eventually, the driver jumped a curb and hit Shaylee Henry and the man. 

Then, the car continued into a nearby neighborhood, where it hit a telephone pole. Both the driver and a passenger ran from the scene and remained at large despite police efforts. 

At present, detectives are still investigating the incident. To assist with funeral expenses for Shaylee Henry, a GoFundMe campaign has been initiated.
