Around 11 p.m., the California Highway Patrol received reports of the incident on Campo Road, near Hillestad Drive.

ABC 10News reported that an Audi sedan hit a pedestrian on the eastbound lane of state Route 94/Campo Road. Following the collision, the Audi stopped. 

However, the male driver exited the vehicle and fled, leaving a female passenger behind.

Consequently, the paramedics arrived and tried to save the man. Unfortunately, he was declared dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, CHP officers interviewed the passenger while San Diego County sheriff’s deputies and the ASTREA helicopter looked for the driver.
