Bakersfield, CA (February 21, 2024) – A car accident in east Bakersfield involving two cars on Pioneer Drive east of Dennison Lane left a 29-year-old woman fatal. Moreover, two drivers were arrested for multiple charges. According to BakersfieldNow, the incident happened around 1:35 a.m. on Saturday.

A car accident in east Bakersfield involving two vehicles left a 29-year-old woman fatal in the area of Pioneer Drive and Dennison Lane.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred when a 33-year-old man from Bakersfield, driving a 2017 Chevrolet west on Pioneer Drive, crossed the opposite lane for unknown reasons. 

At the same time, a 29-year-old Bakersfield man was driving a 2015 Honda east on the same road.

Consequently, the Chevrolet ventured across the double yellow lines dividing the road and collided head-on with the Honda. Both cars ended up blocking traffic in both directions.

Unfortunately, a 29-year-old woman, riding as a front-seat passenger in the Honda, sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene. 

Meanwhile, two other Honda occupants were hospitalized at Kern Medical following this car accident in east Bakersfield.

Eventually, the authorities arrested Gabriel Coronel, the Chevrolet driver, on charges of felony gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving under the influence causing injury. Brayden Aragon, the Honda driver, also faced misdemeanor DUI charges.
