A sudden storm, arising seemingly out of nowhere, capsized a fishing boat carrying American tourists on July 3rd. Boating accidents are too common. In this particular accident, it appears that even a properly-trained crew and seemingly calm conditions turned disastrous in a moment’s notice.
Many tourists are still missing, including one person who has been confirmed deceased. One man who followed safety precautions by wearing a life vest swam for 8 miles over 12 hours before he was rescued, an important reminder that all boaters should wear a life vest at all times and follow all safety recommendations.
