1. Things Remembered children’s jewelry
Things Remembered, a children’s jewelry company, recalled their silver bracelets and children’s charm bracelets. They found that the surface coating on both had an excessive amount of lead. In fact, the lead was well beyond the legal limit allowed and posed the possibility of serious injuries to a child if they ingested it. No injuries were reported but more than 10,000 pieces were recalled, including 6,700 bracelets and 3,300 necklaces. The company offered full refunds for the jewelry.
2. Water bottles from GSI Outdoors
A lead violation was also the cause of GSI Outdoors recalling water bottles. The exterior base was soldered with lead, which lead to the base of the bottle having high amounts of lead. If this was ingested, it could have caused serious health issues. So far they have recalled nearly 7,000 units, including five different styles. Worried consumers can check the ID number on the bottom of the bottle. The issue in question is that of 297684. There have been no reported injuries or incidents and refunds can be requested from L.L. Bean.
3. Clog remover from Liquid Plumr
There were three different types of Liquid Plumr clog remover taken from the shelves by the manufacturer, Clorox. This was done because the company did not meet the requirements for child-restraint closures. Note that the Poison Prevention Packaging Act has very clear requirements that any package that has sodium hydroxide must be sealed with packaging that is child-resistant. These bottles were not child resistant, which meant that children could be exposed to dangerous chemicals if they opened the top. There were eight reports of children getting into the bottles but no injuries reported.
4. Lamps from Home Source
Nearly 3,000 floor lamps sold by Home Source were recalled because they had a short circuit issue. The lamps posed both a fire and shock hazard to anyone who came into contact with them. There were three reported incidents but no injuries.
