Modesto, CA (June 17, 2024) – A car accident in South Modesto killed two men at the intersection of South Carpenter and West Hatch roads. The authorities identified the victims as Pedro Rivera Ruiz, 19, and Nathaniel Perez, 20, both from Modesto. According to the Modesto Bee, the accident happened before 1:30 a.m. on Sunday.

A car accident in South Modesto killed two men at the intersection of South Carpenter and West Hatch roads on Sunday. 

Later, the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as Pedro Rivera Ruiz, 19, and Nathaniel Perez, 20, both of Modesto.

According to the report, the accident occurred when a 2008 Honda Accord, traveling north on Carpenter, collided with a raised concrete island before hitting a signal light pole. 

Consequently, this impact ejected both men from the car, leading to their deaths at the scene. 

As of Monday morning, it remained uncertain who was driving the car.

Currently, the Modesto Police Department continues investigating this car accident in South Modesto. Moreover, they encourage any witnesses to reach out to Officer Justin Beverson of the Traffic Safety Unit via email at Beversonj@modestopd.com or by calling 209-572-9592.

To assist with funeral expenses for Ruiz, a GoFundMe account describes him as “a son, a brother, a cousin, an uncle, a friend,” and “the sweetest and happiest man.”
